ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE
Airmid Foundation was incorporated April 8, 2008 in East Orange, New Jersey. Founders, Businessman William Michael Barbee and Executive Clinical Director Richard Baraka saw a great need within the urban communities to provide an incubator of services within the areas of Substance Abuse,Mental Illness, HIV/AIDS, Anger Management, Domestic Violence, Parenting Classes, Relapse Prevention, Sexual Abuse /Trauma, , Grief/Loss Group, Health/Wellness Education and Family/Couple Therapy. Michael and Richard started Airmid Foundation as a way of providing resources to a greater population.
The World Health Organization (WHO) embraces a definition of health as "a physical, mental and social well being." Airmid Foundation addresses not only the substance abuse issues, but the behavioral needs of individuals, families and our society as a whole. Through the foundation we know there is a strong link between the protection of basic civil, political, economical, social and cultural rights of people and their mental health. Good mental health goes hand and hand with peace, stability and success.
At Airmid, we help people realize their fullest potential through counseling and education. We promote and involve actions that allow people to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles and create healthy conditions and environments. We also connect people to services along the continuum of care to promote self-actualization and healing.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is to provide a therapeutic environment that will inform an inspire clients in developing better life skills by individualizing the goals and objectives that are necessary in order to meet their needs.
WHO WE SERVE
We serve individuals with HIV/AIDS, substance abuse issues, anger management issues as well as individuals with co-occurring substance abuse issues and mental health disorders. We offer a wide range of outpatient services to help individuals learn behavior modification and interpersonal life skills that will make long-term abstinence from alcohol, drugs and their environments possible. We pride ourselves in tailoring our services to the needs, concerns and values of individuals and their families. Airmid Foundation is a different kind of organization. We offer a new approach to mental illness, addiction therapy and health and wellness. Our vision is to provide comprehensive quality care to individuals and their families.
